Harvesting Machinery Price in Germany Shrinks Markedly to $71,604 per Unit
Germany Harvesting Machinery Export Price in February 2023
In February 2023, the harvesting machinery price stood at $71,604 per unit (FOB, Germany), shrinking by -19% against the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in November 2022 an increase of 15% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $88,349 per unit in January 2023, and then declined rapidly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Australia ($112K per unit), while the average price for exports to Egypt ($26,201 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Turkey (+8.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Germany Harvesting Machinery Exports
In February 2023, shipments abroad of root or tuber harvesting machines increased by 18% to 207 units, rising for the second month in a row after four months of decline. Over the period under review, exports continue to indicate a remarkable increase. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when exports increased by 253% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports reached the maximum at 643 units in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to February 2023, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, harvesting machinery exports dropped slightly to $15M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. Overall, exports continue to indicate strong growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 with an increase of 280% month-to-month. The exports peaked at 52M units in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to February 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.
Germany Harvesting Machinery Exports by Country
Russia (80 units) was the main destination for harvesting machinery exports from Germany, with a 39% share of total exports. Moreover, harvesting machinery exports to Russia exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Egypt (29 units), threefold. Turkey (16 units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.7% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Russia totaled +28.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Egypt (+4.6% per month) and Turkey (+8.5% per month).
In value terms, Russia ($7.1M) remains the key foreign market for harvesting machinery exports from Germany, comprising 48% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kazakhstan ($1.5M), with a 10% share of total exports. It was followed by the Netherlands, with a 5.5% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value to Russia amounted to +32.3%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Kazakhstan (+8.7% per month) and the Netherlands (-0.8% per month).
