Engine Generator Price in Germany Shrinks 4% to $80.3 per Unit
Germany Engine Generator Import Price in January 2023
In January 2023, the engine generator price stood at $80.3 per unit (CIF, Germany), falling by -4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in November 2022 when the average import price increased by 6.1% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $86.3 per unit in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to January 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In January 2023, the country with the highest price was Turkey ($113 per unit), while the price for Tunisia ($5.6 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Turkey (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

Germany Engine Generator Imports
In January 2023, approximately 670K units of generators for internal combustion engines were imported into Germany; waning by -5.9% against the month before. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in September 2022 with an increase of 37% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 919K units. From October 2022 to January 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, engine generator imports contracted to $54M (IndexBox estimates) in January 2023. Overall, imports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in September 2022 when imports increased by 35% month-to-month. As a result, imports attained the peak of $69M. From October 2022 to January 2023, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Germany Engine Generator Imports by Country
In January 2023, France (241K units) constituted the largest engine generator supplier to Germany, accounting for a 36% share of total imports. Moreover, engine generator imports from France exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Spain (88K units), threefold. The third position in this ranking was taken by Hungary (69K units), with a 10% share.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from France was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Spain (+3.0% per month) and Hungary (-1.4% per month).
In value terms, France ($22M) constituted the largest supplier of engine generator to Germany, comprising 40% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Spain ($8.1M), with a 15% share of total imports. It was followed by Hungary, with a 9.1% share.
From January 2022 to January 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value from France was relatively modest. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Spain (-0.4% per month) and Hungary (-1.4% per month).
