Car Fuel and Oil Filter Price in the U.S. Surged 13% to $2.6 per Unit
U.S. Fuel Filter Import Price July 2022
The average fuel filter import price stood at $2.6 per unit in July 2022, surging by 13% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in March 2022 an increase of 19% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $2.7 per unit in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to July 2022, import prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($5 per unit), while the price for Indonesia ($1 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Mexico (+3.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Fuel Filter Imports
In July 2022, purchases abroad of oil or petrol-filters for internal combustion engines decreased by -11.9% to 43M units, falling for the second month in a row after three months of growth. Over the period under review, imports saw a slight decline. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 with an increase of 17% against the previous month. As a result, imports attained the peak of 55M units. From June 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, fuel filter imports fell modestly to $111M (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. In general, imports continue to indicate a slight setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 when imports increased by 21% month-to-month. As a result, imports reached the peak of $124M. From June 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
U.S. Fuel Filter Imports by Country
China (14M units), Mexico (8M units) and Germany (4.6M units) were the main suppliers of fuel filter imports to the United States, with a combined 62% share of total imports. Japan, Thailand, India, South Korea, Vietnam, Taiwan (Chinese) and Indonesia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 29%.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of purchases, amongst the main suppliers, was attained by India (with a CAGR of +12.6%), while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Mexico ($40M) constituted the largest supplier of fuel filter to the United States, comprising 36% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by China ($18M), with a 16% share of total imports. It was followed by Germany, with a 6.9% share.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from Mexico stood at +5.7%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: China (-2.6% per month) and Germany (+2.8% per month).
