Perfume Price in France Rises 3%, Averaging $49.1 per kg After Two Consecutive Months of Growth

France Perfume Export Price in November 2022

In November 2022, the perfume price amounted to $49.1 per kg (FOB, France), surging by 3.3% against the previous month. Over the last ten-month period, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.1%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 an increase of 7.2% m-o-m. The export price peaked in November 2022.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was the Czech Republic ($69.7 per kg), while the average price for exports to Saudi Arabia ($28.7 per kg) was amongst the lowest.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Saudi Arabia (+6.6%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

France Perfume Exports

In November 2022, shipments abroad of perfumes and toilet waters decreased by -8.3% to 14K tons, falling for the second month in a row after five months of growth. The total export volume increased at an average monthly rate of +2.4% over the period from January 2022 to November 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain months. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2022 with an increase of 10% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 16K tons in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to November 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

In value terms, perfume exports reduced to $687M (IndexBox estimates) in November 2022. Over the period under review, total exports indicated a noticeable expansion from January 2022 to November 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +3.6% over the last ten months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on November 2022 figures, exports decreased by -6.8% against September 2022 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in March 2022 when exports increased by 17% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at 738K tons in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to November 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.

France Perfume Exports by Country

The United States (2.4K tons), Germany (2K tons) and Spain (2K tons) were the main destinations of perfume exports from France, together comprising 45% of total exports. The UK, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, Saudi Arabia, China, the Netherlands, Australia and the Czech Republic lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 33%.

From January 2022 to November 2022, the biggest increases were in the UK (with a CAGR of +8.1%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest markets for perfume exported from France were the United States ($115M), Germany ($100M) and Spain ($70M), with a combined 42% share of total exports. The UK, Italy, the United Arab Emirates, Singapore, China, the Czech Republic, the Netherlands, Australia and Saudi Arabia lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further 34%.

In terms of the main countries of destination, Saudi Arabia, with a CAGR of +11.8%, saw the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
