Festive articles exports from China plummeted to 7.2K tons in February 2023, which is down by -64.4% on January 2023 figures. Overall, exports saw a noticeable curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when exports increased by 80% m-o-m.
In value terms, festive articles exports reduced remarkably to $85M (IndexBox estimates) in February 2023. In general, exports recorded a slight shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 with an increase of 156% month-to-month.

Exports by Country
The United States (2.9K tons) was the main destination for festive articles exports from China, accounting for a 40% share of total exports. Moreover, festive articles exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Israel (351 tons), eightfold. India (311 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 4.3% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States amounted to -5.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Israel (+15.4% per month) and India (-5.2% per month).
In value terms, the United States ($37M) remains the key foreign market for festive articles exports from China, comprising 43% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by South Korea ($4.4M), with a 5.2% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 4.8% share.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value to the United States totaled -3.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: South Korea (+6.8% per month) and the UK (-2.2% per month).
Export Prices by Country
In February 2023, the festive articles price stood at $11,716 per ton (FOB, China), increasing by 16% against the previous month. Overall, export price indicated a moderate increase from February 2022 to February 2023: its price increased at an average monthly rate of +2.8% over the last twelve months. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on February 2023 figures, festive articles export price increased by +16.2% against January 2023 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 an increase of 43% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $16,240 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to February 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($31,844 per ton), while the average price for exports to Israel ($1,557 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From February 2022 to February 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Belgium (+7.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
