Ceramic Statuette Price in China Declines to $4,422 per Ton
China Ceramic Statuette Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the ceramic statuette price stood at $4,422 per ton (FOB, China), leveling off at the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.0%. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 when the average export price increased by 13% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the average export prices reached the peak figure at $4,850 per ton in June 2022; however, from July 2022 to September 2022, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($12,134 per ton), while the average price for exports to the UK ($2,857 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+7.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Ceramic Statuette Exports
For the fourth consecutive month, China recorded decline in shipments abroad of ceramic statuettes and other ornamental articles, which decreased by -22.7% to 11K tons in September 2022. Over the period under review, exports saw a deep setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 with an increase of 47% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure at 23K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, ceramic statuette exports dropped markedly to $48M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. In general, exports recorded a deep downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2022 with an increase of 67% m-o-m. The exports peaked at 89K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
China Ceramic Statuette Exports by Country
The United States (4.4K tons) was the main destination for ceramic statuette exports from China, accounting for a 41% share of total exports. Moreover, ceramic statuette exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, the Netherlands (1.8K tons), twofold. Canada (729 tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.7% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States stood at -10.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (-6.7% per month) and Canada (-4.5% per month).
In value terms, the United States ($17M) remains the key foreign market for ceramic statuette exports from China, comprising 37% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was held by the Netherlands ($5.6M), with a 12% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 4.9% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to the United States stood at -7.7%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: the Netherlands (-7.1% per month) and Canada (-5.6% per month).
