Camping Equipment Price in China Rises Slightly to $5,118 per Ton

China Camping Equipment Export Price in March 2023

In March 2023, the camping equipment price stood at $5,118 per ton (FOB, China), remaining stable against the previous month. In general, the export price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2022 an increase of 7.5% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $5,969 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to March 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In March 2023, the country with the highest price was Malaysia ($13,409 per ton), while the average price for exports to Turkey ($3,295 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Malaysia (+5.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

China Camping Equipment Exports

In March 2023, camping equipment exports from China skyrocketed to 96K tons, surging by 88% on February 2023 figures. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern.

In value terms, camping equipment exports soared to $490M (IndexBox estimates) in March 2023. Overall, exports showed a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, the exports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

China Camping Equipment Exports by Country

The United States (35K tons) was the main destination for camping equipment exports from China, accounting for a 36% share of total exports. Moreover, camping equipment exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Turkey (9.1K tons), fourfold. Germany (6.1K tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 6.4% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States stood at -1.9%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Turkey (+54.4% per month) and Germany (-0.4% per month).

In value terms, the United States ($143M) remains the key foreign market for camping equipment exports from China, comprising 29% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Turkey ($30M), with a 6.1% share of total exports. It was followed by the UK, with a 5.5% share.

From March 2022 to March 2023, the average monthly growth rate of value to the United States stood at -1.8%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Turkey (+38.7% per month) and the UK (-1.1% per month).
