Binocular Price in China Plummets to $13.5 per Unit
China Binocular Export Price in September 2022
In September 2022, the binocular price amounted to $13.5 per unit (FOB, China), with a decrease of -21.2% against the previous month. Over the period from January 2022 to September 2022, it increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2022 an increase of 20% m-o-m. The export price peaked at $17.2 per unit in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to September 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Hong Kong SAR ($63.4 per unit), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($2.2 per unit) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Hong Kong SAR (+2.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
China Binocular Exports
In September 2022, shipments abroad of binoculars was finally on the rise to reach 1.9M units after three months of decline. Over the period under review, exports saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 with an increase of 27% month-to-month. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in September 2022.
In value terms, binocular exports shrank to $26M (IndexBox estimates) in September 2022. Overall, total exports indicated modest growth from January 2022 to September 2022: its value increased at an average monthly rate of +1.0% over the last eight-month period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on September 2022 figures, exports decreased by -14.8% against May 2022 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 with an increase of 53% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at 31M units in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to September 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
China Binocular Exports by Country
The United States (499K units) was the main destination for binocular exports from China, with a 26% share of total exports. Moreover, binocular exports to the United States exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Japan (181K units), threefold. Belgium (141K units) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 7.3% share.
From January 2022 to September 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to the United States was relatively modest. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Japan (+13.9% per month) and Belgium (+13.4% per month).
In value terms, the largest markets for binocular exported from China were the United States ($7.9M), Hong Kong SAR ($5.7M) and Germany ($2.2M), with a combined 61% share of total exports. These countries were followed by Japan, Poland, the UK, the Netherlands, South Korea, Kazakhstan, Belgium, Mexico, India and Chile, which together accounted for a further 25%.
Poland, with a CAGR of +21.3%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main countries of destination over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
