In August 2022, the sodium phosphates price amounted to $2,829 per ton (CIF, Brazil), shrinking by -2.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price saw a perceptible slump. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2022 when the average import price increased by 45% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $4,343 per ton in May 2022; however, from June 2022 to August 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($146,800 per ton), while the price for China ($2,590 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by France (+167.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Brazil Sodium Phosphates Imports
In August 2022, the amount of phosphates of mono- or di-sodium imported into Brazil skyrocketed to 224 tons, jumping by 90% on the previous month's figure. In general, imports saw a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2022 with an increase of 423% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum in August 2022.

Brazil Sodium Phosphates Imports by Country
In August 2022, China (212 tons) was the main sodium phosphates supplier to Brazil, with a 95% share of total imports. Moreover, sodium phosphates imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Germany (11 tons), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China totaled +53.6%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Germany (-12.0% per month) and the United States (-29.9% per month).
In value terms, China ($549K) constituted the largest supplier of sodium phosphates to Brazil, comprising 87% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Germany ($53K), with an 8.3% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to August 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from China amounted to +48.0%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average monthly rates of imports growth: Germany (-7.7% per month) and the United States (-5.5% per month).
