Morocco (1.9M tons), Russia (1.1M tons) and Saudi Arabia (764K tons) were the main suppliers of monoammonium phosphate imports to Brazil, together comprising 78% of total volume. The U.S., China and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 22%.
In 2020, the volume of purchases from Mexico rose fourfold, while imports for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Morocco ($618M), Russia ($343M) and Saudi Arabia ($235M) were the largest monoammonium phosphate suppliers to Brazil, together comprising 78% of total imports. The U.S., China and Mexico lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further 22%.
The average monoammonium phosphate import price stood at $321 per ton in 2020, dropping by -11.9% against the previous year. Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. The highest prices were recorded for prices from China ($350 per ton) and Morocco ($328 per ton), while the price for the U.S. ($295 per ton) and Saudi Arabia ($307 per ton) were amongst the lowest. In 2020, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Morocco, while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
