U.S. Sharply Ramps Up Imports of Chemical Contraceptives from India

Indian suppliers expand their presence in the American chemical contraceptive market. In January-October 2021, the U.S. imported 1.4K tons of contraceptives from India, 36% more compared to the same period of 2020. Over this period, total U.S. import volume increased by 20%, reaching 2.8K tons. In value terms, purchases rose by 1% to $1.2B. The average contraceptive import price in the U.S. decreased by 16% against the same period in 2020. India remains the primary supplier, with a 44%-share in American imports.
EU Veterinary Vaccine Trade to Surpass Last Year's $1.7B

Over the first half of 2021, total EU veterinary vaccine exports amounted to $758M, increasing by 13% compared with last year's same period. Given this increase, supplies may overcome the $1.7B figure of 2020 by the year-end. The key veterinary vaccine exporters are Spain, France, Belgium, Hungary, Italy, the Czech Republic and Germany, providing 95% of the total supplies in the EU. Belgium recorded the most notable increase in the volume of exports last year.

India, the Netherlands and Vietnam constitute the leading importers of antibiotics from China. Vietnam recorded the highest growth rate of import value from China over the past decade. Last year, the average antibiotic export price amounted to $44,258 per ton, increasing at an average annual rate of +4.4% from 2010 to 2020.
