Overall, it indicated a remarkable expansion from 2007 to 2016: the total exports value increased at an average annual rate of +4.9% over the last nine years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations throughout the analyzed period. Based on the result of 2016, diagnostic equipment exports decreased by -1.1% against its level of 2014. Global diagnostic equipment export peaked of $113B in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2016, it stood at a somewhat lower level.

In the period from 2007 to 2014, EU X-ray apparatus production showed mixed dynamics, falling from 309 thousand units in 2007 to 11 thousand units in 2014. Over the period under review, it dropped with a CAGR of 13.6%. In value terms, EU X-ray apparatus production reached 4,362 million EUR in 2014, growing by 2.6% annually.

In 2014, the U.S. exported 16 thousand tonnes of electro-diagnostic and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus totaling 5,614 million USD, 4% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was China, where it supplied 13.4% of its total electro-diagnostic and ultra-violet or infra-red ray apparatus exports in value terms, accounting for 32.9% of China's total imports.
