Acetone Price in Australia Slips Significantly to $1.0K per Ton, After Peaking in April
Australia Acetone Import Price per Ton in July 2022
In July 2022, the acetone price per ton stood at $1.0K (CIF, Australia), therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, continues to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2022 an increase of 72% month-to-month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $1.8K per ton. From May 2022 to July 2022, the average import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($1.2K per ton), while the price for Singapore totaled $1.0K per ton.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Singapore (+3.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Australia Acetone Imports
Acetone imports into Australia reduced to 663 tons in July 2022, falling by -11.8% compared with the month before. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a buoyant increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in May 2022 with an increase of 981% m-o-m. As a result, imports attained the peak of 911 tons. From June 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, acetone imports contracted to $687K (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a resilient expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2022 with an increase of 599% m-o-m. As a result, imports reached the peak of $1.1M. From June 2022 to July 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Australia Acetone Imports by Country
In July 2022, Singapore (598 tons) was the main acetone supplier to Australia, with a 90% share of total imports. Moreover, acetone imports from Singapore exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Taiwan (Chinese) (64 tons), ninefold.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly growth rate of volume from Singapore totaled +11.3%.
In value terms, Singapore ($607K) constituted the largest supplier of acetone to Australia, comprising 88% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Taiwan (Chinese) ($74K), with an 11% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from Singapore stood at +14.9%.
