U.S. Artificial Fur Price Drops to $2,702 per Ton, Fluctuating Wildly over 2022
U.S. Artificial Fur Import Price per Ton July 2022
In July 2022, the artificial fur price per ton amounted to $2,702, with a decrease of -85.2% against the previous month. In general, the import price continues to indicate a abrupt curtailment. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 when the average import price increased by 373% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the maximum at $24,834 per ton in February 2022; however, from March 2022 to July 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In July 2022, the country with the highest price was China ($2,451 per ton), while the price for Mexico amounted to $531 per ton.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (-5.2%).
U.S. Artificial Fur Imports
In July 2022, supplies from abroad of artificial fur increased by 810% to 84 tons for the first time since April 2022, thus ending a two-month declining trend. Overall, imports continue to indicate a significant increase. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, artificial fur imports skyrocketed to $226K (IndexBox estimates) in July 2022. Over the period under review, imports saw a buoyant expansion. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2022 with an increase of 157% m-o-m. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at $275K in April 2022; however, from May 2022 to July 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
U.S. Artificial Fur Imports by Country
In July 2022, China (78 tons) was the main artificial fur supplier to the United States, accounting for a 94% share of total imports. Moreover, artificial fur imports from China exceeded the figures recorded by the second-largest supplier, Mexico (4.5 tons), more than tenfold.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at +37.2%.
In value terms, China ($192K) constituted the largest supplier of artificial fur to the United States, comprising 85% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Mexico ($2.4K), with a 1.1% share of total imports.
From January 2022 to July 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value from China totaled +30.1%.
