U.S. Acetic Acid Export Price per Ton June 2022
In June 2022, the acetic acid price per ton stood at $810 (FOB, US) in June 2022, declining by -4.1% against the previous month. In general, the export price recorded a slight descent. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2022 an increase of 17% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $967 per ton. From April 2022 to June 2022, the the average export prices failed to regain momentum.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In June 2022, the country with the highest price was Canada ($1,237 per ton), while the average price for exports to Belgium ($447 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Brazil (+8.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
U.S. Acetic Acid Exports
After four months of decline, shipments abroad of acetic acid increased by 18% to 37K tons in June 2022. Overall, exports, however, saw a abrupt decrease. The exports peaked at 85K tons in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to June 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, acetic acid exports expanded significantly to $30M (IndexBox estimates) in June 2022. In general, exports, however, recorded a abrupt descent. Over the period under review, the exports attained the maximum at $74M in January 2022; however, from February 2022 to June 2022, the exports failed to regain momentum.
U.S. Acetic Acid Exports by Country
Mexico (25K tons) was the main destination for acetic acid exports from the United States, accounting for a 68% share of total exports. Moreover, acetic acid exports to Mexico exceeded the volume sent to the second major destination, Brazil (4.9K tons), fivefold. Belgium (3.9K tons) ranked third in terms of total exports with a 10% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly rate of growth in terms of volume to Mexico totaled -8.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Brazil (-6.1% per month) and Belgium (-35.3% per month).
In value terms, Mexico ($20M) remains the key foreign market for acetic acid exports from the United States, comprising 67% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($4.1M), with a 14% share of total exports. It was followed by Canada, with a 6.6% share.
From January 2022 to June 2022, the average monthly growth rate of value to Mexico totaled -13.4%. Exports to the other major destinations recorded the following average monthly rates of exports growth: Brazil (+2.3% per month) and Canada (-3.7% per month).
