The U.S. takes a X% share (based on USD) of global imports on the elevator and moving stairway market, which put it in third place, behind Germany (X%) and Russia (X%). In 2015, U.S. elevator and moving stairway imports totaled X million USD, which was X million USD (X%) more than the year before.
From 2007 to 2015, U.S. elevator and moving stairway imports showed mixed dynamics. A significant drop in 2009 spilled over into 2010. This decline was followed by recovery growth over the next four years, until imports decreased again. In 2015, imports hiked again, but kept in line with the level of 2013.
Despite a considerable increase, imports failed to reach the peak level of 2008, remaining to fluctuate near the level of 2007.
The global market structure lacks a defined import leader. Despite the relatively small import volumes, the US remains one of the leading global importers.
Mexico, Canada, and China were the main suppliers of elevators and moving stairways into the U.S., with a combined share of X% of total U.S. imports in 2015. China was the fastest growing supplier (+X% per year) from 2007 to 2015, while the other major supplying countries faced a decline. China significantly strengthened its position in the U.S. import structure, from X% in 2007 to X% in 2015. Consequently, Mexico and Canada saw theirs shares reduced.
From 2007 to 2015, the U.S. was a net importer of elevators and moving stairways. However, exports grew faster than imports on average over the same period.
Net US imports of elevators and moving stairways fluctuated over the period under review, with a general downward trend. However, in 2015, the trade deficit increased rapidly from the previous year's figure, amounting to X million USD.
