The U.S. ranks fourth globally in exports on the biological product market with a X% share (based on USD), following Switzerland (X%), Germany (X%), and Belgium (X%). The U.S. exported X million USD in 2015, which was X% over the previous year's value.

U.S. biological product exports showed strong fluctuations over the period under review. There was no recessionary slump; moreover, exports reached local peaks in 2009 and 2010. After the plunge of 2011, the value of exports grew steadily through to 2015, with a rocketing acceleration over the last two years.

As U.S. companies posted solid gains on overseas markets, domestic manufacturers enjoyed a new growth driver.

The Netherlands (X%), Belgium (X%), Germany (X%), and Switzerland (X%) were the main destinations of U.S. biological product exports in 2015. The share exported to Belgium increased (+X percentage points), while the share sent to Germany shrank dramatically (-X percentage points) from 2007 to 2015. The shares of the other major destinations remained relatively stable throughout the analysed period.

From 2007 to 2010, the U.S. was a net exporter of biological products, but that surplus turned into a significant trade deficit over the two years that followed. Starting in 2013, net exports regained their strength. However, this resulted only in a relatively small trade surplus of X million USD in 2015.
