The U.S. continued its dominance in the global trade of tomato ketchup and paste. In 2014, the U.S. exported 320 thousand tonnes of tomato ketchup and paste totaling 321 million USD, 14% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner on the global ketchup market was Canada, where it supplied 61.9% of its total tomato ketchup and paste exports in value terms, accounting for essentially all of Canada's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, the U.S. was a net exporter of tomato ketchup and paste. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. However, in physical terms, the difference was more pronounced.

The Netherlands and Italy were among the other main global suppliers of tomato ketchup and paste in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Poland (+16.4% per year) and China (+40.9% per year).

In addition to Canada, the U.S. top 5 trading partners in 2014 were Mexico, Japan, the Republic of Korea and the United Arab Emirates, with a combined 78.3% share of U.S. tomato ketchup and paste exports. The share of Japan increased modestly (+3.1 percentage points), while the share of Mexico illustrated negative dynamics (-2.3 percentage points). The shares of the remaining countries were relatively stable.
