Tile Market - Poland is the EU Largest Producer of Tiles, Flagstones and Bricks

From 2007 to 2014, EU tile, flagstone and brick production showed negative dynamics, falling from 164 million tonnes in 2007 to 129 million tonnes in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of 3.4% over the period under review. In value terms, EU production on the tile market decreased to 8,175 million EUR in 2014, falling by 3.3% annually.

The countries with the largest production of bricks and similar items made of concrete, cement or artificial stone in absolute volumes were Poland (18.9 million tonnes), France (10.2 million tonnes), the Netherlands (6.9 million tonnes), Italy (6.5 million tonnes) and Ireland (4.1 million tonnes).

Positive dynamics in brick and similar articles production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Poland (+2.2% per year), while for the other four EU leaders (France, the Netherlands, Italy and Ireland) the paces of growth were negative.

Poland dominated in EU brick production and ranked fourth in trade. In 2014, Poland exported 2% of its total tiles, flagstones and bricks output. Of this amount, 20% was supplied to Slovakia, where Poland's bricks held a 25% share of total Slovakia's imports.
