Italy dominates in the global tomato juice trade. In 2014, Italy exported 10 thousand tonnes of tomato juice totaling 8 million USD, 17% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Germany, where it supplied 57.8% of its total tomato juice exports in value terms, accounting for 84.3% of Germany's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, Italy was a net exporter of tomato juice. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms this difference was even more pronounced.

Germany and the U.S. were among the other main global suppliers of tomato juice in 2014. The fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were the U.S. (+24.6% per year) and Spain (+67.6% per year). With this sustained growth, it's no wonder that the U.S. was able to significantly strengthen its position in the global export structure.

Italy's top 5 trading partners in 2014 was the aforementioned Germany, along with France, Switzerland, the Netherlands and Austria, with a combined 94.8% share of Italy's tomato juice exports. The share of France soared (+18.6 percentage points), while the share of Switzerland illustrated negative dynamics (-6.8 percentage points).
