Indonesia’s Palm Kernel Exports Surged 18% in 2014
Indonesia dominates in the global palm kernel trade. In 2014, Indonesia exported X thousand tonnes of palm kernels totaling X million USD, X% over the previous year. Its primary trading partner was China, where it supplied X% of its total palm kernel exports in value terms, accounting for X% of China's total imports.
From 2010 to 2014, Indonesia was a net exporter of palm kernels. Over this period, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. In physical terms this difference was even more pronounced.
Malaysia and Thailand were among the other main global suppliers of palm kernels in 2014. However, the fastest growing exporters from 2007 to 2014 were Germany (+X% per year) and Ecuador (+X% per year). It was Malaysia, however, that strengthened its position in the global export structure.
Indonesia's top X trading partners in 2014 were China, the Netherlands, Brazil, Malaysia and India, with a combined X% share of Indonesia's palm kernel exports. The share of Brazil increased (+X percentage points), while the share of the Netherlands illustrated negative dynamics (-X percentage points).
