Germany Ranks First in EU Cereal Flour Production and Trade

EU cereal flour production showed mixed dynamics from 2007 to 2014, falling from 2,663 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 2,550 thousand tonnes in 2014. Over the period under review, it dropped with a CAGR of 0,5%. In value terms, EU cereal flour production reached 870 million EUR in 2014, growing by 2,4% annually.

The countries with the largest production of cereal flours in absolute volumes were Italy (616 thousand tonnes), Germany (497 thousand tonnes), Poland (243 thousand tonnes) and Romania (156 thousand tonnes).

Positive dynamics in cereal flour production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were recorded in Germany (+1.2% per year), while for the other three EU leaders (Italy, Poland and Romania) the pace of growth was more modest or negative.

Germany dominated in EU cereal flour production and trade. In 2014, Germany exported 13% of its total cereal flour output. Of this amount, 28% was supplied to the Netherlands, where Germany's cereal flours held a 28% share of the total Netherlands imports.
