From 2007 to 2014, EU production on the synthetic rubber market showed a steady decrease in dynamics, falling from 4,175 thousand tonnes in 2007 to 3,447 thousand tonnes in 2014. It dropped with a CAGR of -2.7% over the period under review. In value terms, EU synthetic rubber production decreased to 5,339 million EUR in 2014, falling by -0.1% annually.

Germany was the largest producer of synthetic rubber in absolute volumes, with 1,042 thousand tonnes. It was distantly followed by France (623 thousand tonnes), Italy (528 thousand tonnes), Finland (174 thousand tonnes) and the United Kingdom (114 thousand tonnes).

Positive dynamics in synthetic rubber production among the main producing countries from 2007 to 2014 were observed in Germany (+0.1% per year), while for the other four EU leaders (France, Italy, Finland and the UK) the paces of growth were negative.

Germany dominated in EU synthetic rubber production and trade. In 2014, it exported 82% of its total synthetic rubber output. Of this amount, 11% was supplied to France, where Germany's synthetic rubber held a 32% share of total France's imports.
