The U.S. dominates in global imports of softwood veneer and plywood, accounting for a X% share (based on USD). It was followed by Japan (X%), Germany, and Saudi Arabia (X% each). In 2015, U.S. softwood veneer and plywood imports totaled X million USD, which was X million USD (X%) above previous year's imports.

From 2007 to 2015, U.S. softwood veneer and plywood imports showed mixed dynamics. A significant drop in 2008-2009 was followed by recovery growth over the next years, with an annual increase of +X% between 2009 and 2015. Moreover, in 2015, U.S. softwood veneer and plywood imports reached the pre-recession level of 2007.

Despite fierce competition, the U.S. continues to be one of the most attractive destinations for overseas suppliers.

Canada, China, Chile, and Brazil were the main suppliers of softwood veneer and plywood into the U.S., with a combined share of X% of total U.S. imports in 2015. China (+X% per year) and Chile (+X% per year) were the fastest growing suppliers among the leaders from 2007 to 2015.

The U.S. was a net importer of softwood veneer and plywood from 2007 to 2015. In 2015, U.S. softwood veneer and plywood market ran a trade deficit of X million USD, at approximately X% of gross imports.
