Despite a slight drop in exports last year, China was still able to seize control of the global cement trade. In 2014, China exported 10.2 million tonnes of cement totaling 607 million USD, 5% under the previous year. Its primary trading partner was Mongolia, where it supplied 10.7% of its total exports on the cement market in value terms, accounting for 72.3% of Mongolia's total imports.

From 2007 to 2014, China was a net exporter of cement. Over the period under review, exports consistently exceeded imports in value terms. The difference in physical terms was even more pronounced.

Germany and Pakistan were among the other main global suppliers of cement in 2014. Pakistan was the fastest growing exporter from 2007 to 2014 (+14.8% per year) This enabled Pakistan to significantly strengthen its position in the global export structure.

In 2014, China's top 5 trading partners were Mongolia, Congo, Angola, Cameroon and the U.S., with a combined 43.4% share of China's cement exports. The share of Congo increased significantly (+9.6 percentage points), while the share of the U.S. Fell precipitously (-27.7 percentage points).
