China Became the Major Exporter of Tube Fittings in the World

In 2014, the U.S. (18.1%), and distantly Canada (5.3%), Germany (4.8%) and Japan (3.8%) were the leading destinations of steel tube fittings imports, together making up 32.0% of global imports in physical terms. The share of the U.S. increased, while the shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.

In 2014, China was the main global supplier of iron tube fittings with a combined share of 45.6% of global exports. However, the fastest growing suppliers from 2007 to 2014 were India (+6.8% per year) and the U.S. (+3.0% per year).

China dominates in global iron tube fittings production and trade. In 2014, China exported 2.1% of its total steel tube fittings output. Of this amount, 22.5% was supplied to the U.S., where Chinese steel tube fittings held a 6.0% share of total U.S. consumption.
