The U.S. takes third place in global imports on the capacitor market, with a X% share (based on USD), following China (X%) and Mexico (X%). In 2015, U.S. imports of capacitor, resistor, coil, transformer, and other inductor totaled X million USD, which was X million USD (X%) less than the year before.
From 2007 to 2015, U.S. imports of capacitor, resistor, coil, transformer, and other inductor showed mixed dynamics. A significant drop in 2009 was followed by a recovery over the next two years, until imports stabilized in 2012-2013. In 2014, imports hiked by X%, only to fall back to the stable levels of the previous years. After a short-term peak of 2014, imports fell under the peak level of 2007.
Despite modest import dynamics, the U.S. remains one of the most attractive destinations for overseas suppliers.
China and Mexico were the main suppliers of capacitor, resistor, coil, transformer, and other inductor into the U.S., with a combined X% share of total U.S. imports in 2015. China was the fastest growing supplier (+X% per year) from 2007 to 2015, while imports from Mexico declined by -X% per year. China significantly strengthened its position in U.S. imports, from X% in 2007 to X% in 2015. By contrast, Mexico saw its share reduced to X%.
From 2007 to 2015, the U.S. trade balance of capacitor, resistor, coil, transformer, and other inductor tracked significant variations over the period under review. In 2009, there was a significant trade surplus, which turned into a trade deficit in the next two years. After several fluctuations, the trade deficit increased sharply in 2014, widening in 2015 to the level of about X billion USD.
