Alcohols Exports

Exports

After two years of growth, shipments abroad of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives decreased by X% to X tons in 2020. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2020; the trend pattern remained relatively stable, with only minor fluctuations in certain years. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, the global exports hit record highs at X tons in 2019, and then declined in the following year.

In value terms, alcohols exports dropped markedly to $X in 2020. In general, exports recorded a perceptible slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The global exports peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2020, the exports failed to regain momentum.

In 2020, Saudi Arabia (X tons), distantly followed by Trinidad and Tobago (X tons), the United States (X tons), Oman (X tons), Iran (X tons) and the Netherlands (X tons) were the largest exporters of alcohols and their halogenated, sulphonated, nitrated or nitrosated derivatives, together making up X% of total exports. From 2012 to 2020, average annual rates of growth with regard to alcohols exports from Saudi Arabia stood at X%. At the same time, the United Arab Emirates (X%), the United States (X%), Oman (X%), Canada (X%), Taiwan (Chinese) (X%), Malaysia (X%) and Trinidad and Tobago (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. The average alcohols export price stood at $X per ton in 2020, reducing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price saw a abrupt decrease. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2017 when the average export price increased by X%. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the maximum at $X per ton in 2014; however, from 2015 to 2020, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
