After three years of decline, the Uzbek tea market increased by X% to $X in 2022. In general, consumption, however, recorded a deep contraction. Over the period under review, the market reached the maximum level at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2022, consumption failed to regain momentum.

In 2022, shipments abroad of tea decreased by X% to X tons for the first time since 2015, thus ending a six-year rising trend. As a result, the exports reached the peak of X tons, and then declined sharply in the following year.
In value terms, tea exports declined rapidly to $X in 2022. In general, exports, however, enjoyed a significant increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of X%. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $X, and then fell notably in the following year.
Exports by Country
Russia (X tons), Kazakhstan (X tons) and Kyrgyzstan (X tons) were the main destinations of tea exports from Uzbekistan, with a combined X% share of total exports. The United States, South Korea and Japan lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.
From 2012 to 2022, the biggest increases were recorded for South Korea (with a CAGR of X%), while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, Russia ($X), Kazakhstan ($X) and Kyrgyzstan ($X) were the largest markets for tea exported from Uzbekistan worldwide, together comprising X% of total exports. Japan, South Korea and the United States lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

In 2022, the average tea export price amounted to $X per ton, growing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a pronounced decline. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2016 an increase of X%. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per ton. From 2017 to 2022, the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major export markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($X per ton), while the average price for exports to the United States ($X per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (X%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Imports into Uzbekistan
Tea imports into Uzbekistan fell slightly to X tons in 2022, which is down by X% on the previous year. Over the period under review, imports showed a perceptible descent. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2015 with an increase of X% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of X tons. From 2016 to 2022, the growth of imports failed to regain momentum.
In value terms, tea imports shrank modestly to $X in 2022. Overall, imports continue to indicate a deep setback. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2018 with an increase of X%. Over the period under review, imports reached the maximum at $X in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.
Imports by Country
In 2022, China (X tons) constituted the largest tea supplier to Uzbekistan, accounting for a X% share of total imports. It was followed by Kenya (X tons), with a X% share of total imports. Iran (X tons) ranked third in terms of total imports with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual rate of growth in terms of volume from China stood at X%. The remaining supplying countries recorded the following average annual rates of imports growth: Kenya (X% per year) and Iran (X% per year).
In value terms, China ($X) constituted the largest supplier of tea to Uzbekistan, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Kenya ($X), with a X% share of total imports. It was followed by the United Arab Emirates, with a X% share.
