Exports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2023, after four years of growth, there was significant decline in shipments abroad of headgear of rubber or plastic, when their volume decreased by X% to X units. Over the period under review, exports recorded a abrupt curtailment. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2019 with an increase of X% against the previous year. The volume of export peaked at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, plastic headgear exports fell slightly to $X in 2023. In general, exports saw a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2019 when exports increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, the exports failed to regain momentum.

Exports by Country

Mexico was the main exporting country with an export of about X units, which recorded X% of total exports. Brazil (X units) took the second position in the ranking, distantly followed by Chile (X units) and Colombia (X units). All these countries together took near X% share of total exports. Panama (X units) and Peru (X units) followed a long way behind the leaders.

Exports from Mexico decreased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2023. At the same time, Brazil (X%) and Peru (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Brazil emerged as the fastest-growing exporter exported in Latin America and the Caribbean, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2023. By contrast, Colombia (X%), Chile (X%) and Panama (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. Brazil (X p.p.), Chile (X p.p.), Colombia (X p.p.) and Peru (X p.p.) significantly strengthened its position in terms of the total exports, while Panama and Mexico saw its share reduced by X% and X% from 2012 to 2023, respectively.

In value terms, Mexico ($X) remains the largest plastic headgear supplier in Latin America and the Caribbean, comprising X% of total exports. The second position in the ranking was taken by Brazil ($X), with a X% share of total exports. It was followed by Chile, with a X% share.

In Mexico, plastic headgear exports contracted by an average annual rate of X% over the period from 2012-2023. The remaining exporting countries recorded the following average annual rates of exports growth: Brazil (X% per year) and Chile (X% per year).

Export Prices by Country

In 2023, the export price in Latin America and the Caribbean amounted to $X per unit, increasing by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. The level of export peaked at $X per unit in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2023, the export prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major exporting countries. In 2023, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Chile ($X per unit), while Panama ($X per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Panama (X%), while the other leaders experienced mixed trends in the export price figures.

Imports in Latin America and the Caribbean

In 2023, overseas purchases of headgear of rubber or plastic increased by X% to X units, rising for the third consecutive year after two years of decline. In general, imports, however, showed a mild setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when imports increased by X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X units in 2012; however, from 2013 to 2023, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, plastic headgear imports shrank to $X in 2023. Overall, imports, however, saw a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2022 with an increase of X%. Imports by Country

The purchases of the four major importers of headgear of rubber or plastic, namely Brazil, Mexico, Colombia and Chile, represented more than half of total import. Panama (X units) ranks next in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Ecuador (X%) and the Dominican Republic (X%). The following importers - Peru (X units), Argentina (X units), Uruguay (X units), Costa Rica (X units), Bolivia (X units) and Guatemala (X units) - together made up X% of total imports.

From 2012 to 2023, the biggest increases were recorded for the Dominican Republic (with a CAGR of X%), while purchases for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In value terms, the largest plastic headgear importing markets in Latin America and the Caribbean were Mexico ($X), Brazil ($X) and Colombia ($X), with a combined X% share of total imports. Chile, Panama, Ecuador, Argentina, Peru, Costa Rica, Uruguay, the Dominican Republic, Bolivia and Guatemala lagged somewhat behind, together comprising a further X%.

As a result, import price attained the peak level of $X per unit, and then contracted in the following year.
