The shipments of the three major exporters of wood chips and particles, namely Russia, Latvia and Belarus, represented more than two-thirds of total export. Estonia (X cubic meters) ranks next in terms of the total exports with an X% share, followed by Lithuania (X%). The following exporters - the Czech Republic (X cubic meters) and Slovakia (X cubic meters) - each amounted to a X% share of total exports.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of shipments, amongst the leading exporting countries, was attained by Lithuania (with a CAGR of X%), while the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.
In value terms, the largest wood chips and particles supplying countries in Eastern Europe were Latvia ($X), Russia ($X) and Belarus ($X), with a combined X% share of total exports. Estonia, Lithuania, the Czech Republic and Slovakia lagged somewhat behind, together accounting for a further X%.
Lithuania, with a CAGR of X%, recorded the highest rates of growth with regard to the value of exports, among the main exporting countries over the period under review, while shipments for the other leaders experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the export price in Eastern Europe amounted to $X per cubic meter, rising by X% against the previous year. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2013 when the export price increased by X% against the previous year. As a result, the export price reached the peak level of $X per cubic meter. From 2014 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Slovakia ($X per cubic meter), while Belarus ($X per cubic meter) was amongst the lowest.

Imports in Eastern Europe
In 2022, purchases abroad of wood chips and particles decreased by X% to X cubic meters, falling for the third consecutive year after six years of growth. In general, imports, however, recorded a buoyant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs at X cubic meters in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports remained at a lower figure.
In value terms, wood chips and particles imports expanded sharply to $X in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, posted a strong increase. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 with an increase of X%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $X. From 2019 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a lower figure.
Imports by Country
In 2022, Poland (X cubic meters) represented the main importer of wood chips and particles, mixing up X% of total imports. Lithuania (X cubic meters) ranks second in terms of the total imports with a X% share, followed by Latvia (X%) and Romania (X%). The Czech Republic (X cubic meters) and Slovakia (X cubic meters) followed a long way behind the leaders.
Imports into Poland increased at an average annual rate of X% from 2012 to 2022. At the same time, Romania (X%), Latvia (X%), Slovakia (X%) and Lithuania (X%) displayed positive paces of growth. Moreover, Romania emerged as the fastest-growing importer imported in Eastern Europe, with a CAGR of X% from 2012-2022. By contrast, the Czech Republic (X%) illustrated a downward trend over the same period. While the share of Poland (X p.p.), Lithuania (X p.p.), Romania (X p.p.) and Latvia (X p.p.) increased significantly in terms of the total imports from 2012-2022, the share of the Czech Republic (X p.p.) displayed negative dynamics. The shares of the other countries remained relatively stable throughout the analyzed period.
In value terms, Poland ($X) constitutes the largest market for imported wood chips and particles in Eastern Europe, comprising X% of total imports. The second position in the ranking was held by Lithuania ($X), with an X% share of total imports. It was followed by the Czech Republic, with a X% share.
From 2012 to 2022, the average annual growth rate of value in Poland stood at X%. In the other countries, the average annual rates were as follows: Lithuania (X% per year) and the Czech Republic (X% per year).
Import Prices by Country
