Zinc Oxide Price in Germany (CIF) - 2023
The average zinc oxide import price stood at $3,111 per ton in August 2023, with an increase of 7.5% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, recorded a slight curtailment. The import price peaked at $3,666 per ton in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to August 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Belgium ($3,318 per ton) and Slovakia ($3,108 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($2,593 per ton) and Austria ($2,820 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (-0.8%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Zinc Oxide Price in Germany (FOB) - 2023
In August 2023, the average zinc oxide export price amounted to $4,241 per ton, with an increase of 5.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, saw a mild contraction. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 an increase of 27% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $4,905 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Switzerland ($7,027 per ton), while the average price for exports to India ($3,111 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to the Czech Republic (+4.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Zinc Oxide Imports in Germany
Zinc oxide imports into Germany dropped to 40K tons in 2022, with a decrease of -9.4% on the previous year's figure. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +5.0% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 38%. As a result, imports attained the peak of 44K tons, and then declined in the following year.
In value terms, zinc oxide imports rose markedly to $139M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +17.3% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +84.8% against 2020 indices. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 64% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure in 2022 and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
