Toy Price in Indonesia (FOB) - 2022

The average toy export price stood at $11,005 per ton in March 2022, almost unchanged from the previous month. In general, the export price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in January 2022 an increase of 7.8% against the previous month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $11,584 per ton. From February 2022 to March 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.

Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($18,256 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($8,552 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From March 2021 to March 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Japan (+5.2%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Toy Price in Indonesia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average toy import price amounted to $5,023 per ton, increasing by 9.4% against the previous year. Overall, import price indicated a prominent increase from 2012 to 2022: its price increased at an average annual rate of +5.8% over the last decade. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, toy import price increased by +30.3% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2014 an increase of 35% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $5,331 per ton in 2015; however, from 2016 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for China.

From 2012 to 2022, the rate of growth in terms of prices for China amounted to +6.0% per year.

Toy Exports in Indonesia

In 2022, exports of dolls and toys from Indonesia expanded markedly to 51K tons, growing by 7.4% against the year before. In general, total exports indicated a buoyant expansion from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.2% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +45.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 when exports increased by 25%. The exports peaked in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, toy exports skyrocketed to $560M in 2022. The total export value increased at an average annual rate of +11.4% over the period from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 24%. Over the period under review, the exports hit record highs in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Toy Imports in Indonesia

In 2022, purchases abroad of dolls and toys increased by 3.9% to 38K tons for the first time since 2019, thus ending a two-year declining trend. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw a abrupt downturn.

In value terms, toy imports expanded rapidly to $189M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed a perceptible curtailment.
