Television Receiver Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023

The average television receiver import price stood at $287 per unit in September 2023, rising by 8.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 12% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $293 per unit in September 2022; however, from October 2022 to September 2023, import prices failed to regain momentum.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Mexico ($374 per unit), while the price for Thailand ($111 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

Television Receiver Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023

In September 2023, the average television receiver export price amounted to $242 per unit, increasing by 2.3% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.3%. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in February 2023 when the average export price increased by 24% m-o-m. The export price peaked in September 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major foreign markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Canada ($360 per unit), while the average price for exports to Paraguay ($60.3 per unit) was amongst the lowest.

From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Mexico (+5.7%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced a decline.

Television Receiver Imports in the United States

Television receiver imports into the United States dropped to 49M units in 2022, which is down by -12.9% compared with 2021 figures. Overall, imports recorded a abrupt downturn. The smallest decline of -0.3% was in 2020. Over the period under review, imports attained the peak figure at 68M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, imports failed to regain momentum.

In value terms, television receiver imports declined remarkably to $13.7B in 2022. In general, imports saw a perceptible contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 17%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $16.5B, and then shrank significantly in the following year.

For the third year in a row, the United States recorded decline in overseas shipments of television receivers, which decreased by -27.6% to 5.8M units in 2022. In general, exports saw a precipitous contraction. The exports peaked at 21M units in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports remained at a lower figure.

In value terms, television receiver exports shrank to $1B in 2022. Overall, exports saw a precipitous setback. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 1.2%. The exports peaked at $2.4B in 2019; however, from 2020 to 2022, the exports stood at a somewhat lower figure.
