Talc and Steatite Price in Pakistan (FOB) - 2023
In April 2023, the average talc and steatite export price amounted to $169 per ton, waning by -8.1% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price saw a slight reduction. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 26% against the previous month. The export price peaked at $221 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to April 2023, the export prices failed to regain momentum.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Japan ($241 per ton), while the average price for exports to Thailand ($149 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From April 2022 to April 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Taiwan (Chinese) (+1.0%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced mixed trend patterns.
Talc and Steatite Price in Pakistan (CIF) - 2022
The average talc and steatite import price stood at $113 per ton in 2022, reducing by -20.3% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the import price, however, saw a temperate expansion. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2017 when the average import price increased by 91% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $142 per ton in 2021, and then shrank sharply in the following year.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($149 per ton), while the price for Afghanistan totaled $111 per ton.
From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Afghanistan (+3.1%).
Talc and Steatite Exports in Pakistan
In 2022, the amount of talc and steatite exported from Pakistan dropped to 327K tons, waning by -7.3% on the year before. Overall, exports continue to indicate a perceptible downturn. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 9.7%. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 352K tons, and then reduced in the following year.
In value terms, talc and steatite exports shrank to $63M in 2022. In general, exports, however, continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 25% against the previous year. As a result, the exports reached the peak of $70M, and then declined in the following year.
