The average sugar cane import price stood at $5,276 per ton in 2022, increasing by 117% against the previous year. Overall, the import price recorded buoyant growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2021 when the average import price increased by 138%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum in 2022 and is likely to continue growth in the near future.
Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Japan ($13,486 per ton), while the price for Vietnam ($1,834 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
