Sack Kraft Paper Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
In September 2023, the average sack kraft paper export price amounted to $740 per ton, dropping by -2.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in December 2022 when the average export price increased by 6.9% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $841 per ton. From January 2023 to September 2023, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was Chile ($1,090 per ton), while the average price for exports to Hong Kong SAR ($551 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+2.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Sack Kraft Paper Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average sack kraft paper import price amounted to $1,218 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in October 2022 when the average import price increased by 5.2% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $1,341 per ton in December 2022; however, from January 2023 to September 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied somewhat amongst the major supplying countries. In September 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from Sweden ($1,319 per ton) and Canada ($1,234 per ton), while the price for Mexico ($962 per ton) and the Czech Republic ($1,203 per ton) were amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the Czech Republic (+4.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
Sack Kraft Paper Exports in the United States
In 2022, approx. 295K tons of sack kraft paper were exported from the United States; with an increase of 12% compared with 2021. The total export volume increased at an average annual rate of +9.2% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 13%. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.
In value terms, sack kraft paper exports surged to $240M in 2022. Overall, total exports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, exports increased by +62.4% against 2020 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 28% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the exports reached the peak figure in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.

Overall, total imports indicated a prominent expansion from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% over the last three years.
