Pyrethrum and Peppermint Price in the United States (CIF) - 2023
In September 2023, the average pyrethrum and peppermint import price amounted to $6,335 per ton, with a decrease of -9.4% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price, however, showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 15% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,991 per ton in August 2023, and then dropped in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Germany ($14,869 per ton), while the price for Indonesia ($1,549 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Germany (+4.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pyrethrum and Peppermint Price in the United States (FOB) - 2023
The average pyrethrum and peppermint export price stood at $8,191 per ton in September 2023, falling by -12.8% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The growth pace was the most rapid in August 2023 an increase of 39% m-o-m. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $10,646 per ton in March 2023; however, from April 2023 to September 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major external markets. In September 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($31,619 per ton), while the average price for exports to Brazil ($4,299 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From September 2022 to September 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to France (+14.8%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Pyrethrum and Peppermint Imports in the United States
In 2022, after three years of growth, there was significant decline in overseas purchases of pyrethrum and peppermint, when their volume decreased by -7.9% to 87K tons. Overall, imports, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2020 with an increase of 7.2% against the previous year.
In value terms, pyrethrum and peppermint imports rose sharply to $495M in 2022. The total import value increased at an average annual rate of +8.5% over the period from 2019 to 2022; the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when imports increased by 15% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports attained the maximum in 2022 and are likely to see gradual growth in the near future.
