In 2022, the average import price for zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils amounted to $5,315 per ton, dropping by -45% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded resilient growth. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2014 an increase of 131%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the peak figure at $9,664 per ton in 2021, and then declined remarkably in the following year.

Prices varied noticeably by country of origin: amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was China ($24,333 per ton), while the price for India ($3,376 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by China (+21.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

After two years of decline, supplies from abroad of zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils increased by 1.1% to 906 kg in 2022. In general, imports, however, saw a significant decline.

In value terms, imports of zinc; plates, sheets, strip and foils fell markedly to $4.8K in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, faced a sharp reduction. The smallest decline of -28.9% was in 2021.
