In August 2023, the average import price for wood charcoal (including shell or nut charcoal), whether or not agglomerated amounted to $876 per ton, picking up by 4% against the previous month. Over the last ten months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +4.1%. The growth pace was the most rapid in April 2023 an increase of 23% against the previous month. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $943 per ton. From May 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.
As there is only one major supplying country, the average price level is determined by prices for Ukraine.
From October 2022 to August 2023, the rate of growth in terms of prices for the Czech Republic amounted to +5.2% per month.

The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on July 2023 figures, export price for wood charcoal (including shell or nut charcoal), whether or not agglomerated decreased by -8.9% against June 2023 indices. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in February 2023 an increase of 62% m-o-m. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,149 per ton. From March 2023 to July 2023, the the average export prices remained at a lower figure.
There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was France ($1,259 per ton), while the average price for exports to Germany ($789 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
