The average import price for sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers stood at $1,874 per ton in December 2022, dropping by -26.9% against the previous month. In general, the import price, however, saw a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in November 2022 an increase of 22% m-o-m. As a result, import price attained the peak level of $2,564 per ton, and then declined rapidly in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($4,995 per ton), while the price for China ($460 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Vietnam (+3.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In December 2022, the average export price for sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers amounted to $750 per ton, declining by -3.3% against the previous month. In general, the export price continues to indicate a slight downturn. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in June 2022 when the average export price increased by 86% month-to-month. As a result, the export price attained the peak level of $1,321 per ton. From July 2022 to December 2022, the the average export prices remained at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was India ($751 per ton), while the average price for exports to Malaysia stood at $300 per ton.
From December 2021 to December 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to India (+1.2%).
Imports of Sweet Biscuit, Waffle and Wafer in Myanmar
In 2022, purchases abroad of sweet biscuits, waffles and wafers decreased by -8.5% to 28K tons, falling for the second consecutive year after two years of growth. Over the period under review, imports continue to indicate a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2020 with an increase of 8.8%. As a result, imports reached the peak of 31K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of imports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
