The average import price for pens; nibs and nib pointses stood at $31.7 per thousand units in August 2023, with an increase of 68% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a abrupt setback. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in December 2022 when the average import price increased by 290% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $82.0 per thousand units in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Taiwan (Chinese) ($66.0 per thousand units), while the price for Slovakia ($11.0 per thousand units) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Slovakia (+2.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.
