In December 2023, the average import price for meat of bovine animals; fresh or chilled amounted to $10,248 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, saw a mild decline. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in August 2023 when the average import price increased by 10% month-to-month. Over the period under review, average import prices attained the peak figure at $13,072 per ton in February 2023; however, from March 2023 to December 2023, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was the United States ($15,773 per ton), while the price for Argentina ($5,573 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From December 2022 to December 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by the United States (+0.3%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of meat of bovine animals; fresh or chilled decreased by -2.7% to 52K tons in 2022. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +11.3% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. The growth pace was the most rapid in 2020 when imports increased by 29% against the previous year.
In value terms, imports of meat of bovine animals; fresh or chilled rose remarkably to $674M in 2022. Overall, imports, however, showed significant growth. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 with an increase of 47% against the previous year. Over the period under review, imports of attained the maximum in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in years to come.
