Price for Fresh or Chilled Lettuce, Other than Cabbage Lettuce in Luxembourg (CIF) - 2023

In August 2023, the average import price for fresh or chilled lettuce, other than cabbage lettuce amounted to $4,117 per ton, picking up by 2.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the import price showed a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 when the average import price increased by 21% against the previous month. As a result, import price reached the peak level of $4,378 per ton. From July 2023 to August 2023, the average import prices failed to regain momentum.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In August 2023, the highest price was recorded for prices from France ($4,712 per ton) and Spain ($4,604 per ton), while the price for Germany ($3,784 per ton) and Belgium ($3,984 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Spain (+1.7%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, the average export price for fresh or chilled lettuce, other than cabbage lettuce amounted to $5,194 per ton, therefore, remained relatively stable against the previous year. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period.
