Price for Cumin Seeds, Crushed or Ground in India (FOB) - 2023

In July 2023, the average export price for cumin seeds, crushed or ground amounted to $4,198 per ton, surging by 3.8% against the previous month. Over the last twelve months, it increased at an average monthly rate of +2.6%. The growth pace was the most rapid in May 2023 an increase of 13% month-to-month. The export price peaked in July 2023.

There were significant differences in the average prices for the major overseas markets. In July 2023, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($6,637 per ton), while the average price for exports to Nepal ($1,118 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From July 2022 to July 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Peru (+11.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Over the period under review, the import price continues to indicate a noticeable shrinkage. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 an increase of 24% against the previous year. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $3,819 per ton in 2018; however, from 2019 to 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
