In 2022, the average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds amounted to $3,543 per ton, which is down by -32.6% against the previous year. Overall, the import price saw a pronounced slump. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2017 when the average import price increased by 50% against the previous year. The import price peaked at $7,869 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was the Netherlands ($40,978 per ton), while the price for Malta ($2,689 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Lithuania (+9.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

After two years of decline, purchases abroad of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds increased by 272% to 59 tons in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, continue to indicate a mild decrease.

In value terms, imports of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds skyrocketed to $207K in 2022. In general, imports recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. As a result, imports reached the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.
