The average export price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds stood at $13,248 per ton in October 2023, reducing by -9.3% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the export price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in June 2023 an increase of 17% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $15,358 per ton in August 2023; however, from September 2023 to October 2023, the export prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably for the major export markets. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was South Korea ($13,870 per ton), while the average price for exports to Japan stood at $12,950 per ton.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to South Korea (+2.9%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

The average import price for crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds stood at $7,226 per ton in October 2023, growing by 36% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in April 2023 when the average import price increased by 41% month-to-month. The import price peaked at $8,201 per ton in November 2022; however, from December 2022 to October 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.

Average prices varied noticeably amongst the major supplying countries. In October 2023, the country with the highest price was Vietnam ($7,297 per ton), while the price for Belarus stood at $6,544 per ton.

From October 2022 to October 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Greece (+10.4%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced more modest paces of growth.

In 2022, exports of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds from Bulgaria reduced rapidly to 2K tons, with a decrease of -29.9% against 2021 figures. In general, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +17.6% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +62.8% against 2019 indices. As a result, imports attained the peak and are likely to continue growth in the immediate term.

In value terms, imports of crustaceans, molluscs and other aquatic invertebrates, prepared or preserveds skyrocketed to $6.2M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated a strong increase from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +19.2% over the last three-year period.
