Price for Candy, Sweets, and Nonchocolate Confectionery in Serbia (CIF) - 2022

In 2022, the average import price for candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery amounted to $3,551 per ton, rising by 7.7% against the previous year. Overall, the import price, however, recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when the average import price increased by 20%. Over the period under review, average import prices reached the maximum at $3,939 per ton in 2013; however, from 2014 to 2022, import prices remained at a lower figure.

There were significant differences in the average prices amongst the major supplying countries. In 2022, amid the top importers, the country with the highest price was Poland ($4,287 per ton), while the price for Russia ($1,823 per ton) was amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Austria (+1.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced mixed trend patterns.

In 2022, the average export price for candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery amounted to $3,502 per ton, stabilizing at the previous year. Over the last decade, it increased at an average annual rate of +1.9%. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 when the average export price increased by 12%. The export price peaked in 2022 and is likely to see gradual growth in the immediate term.

Average prices varied somewhat for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the countries with the highest prices were Slovenia ($4,358 per ton) and Montenegro ($4,091 per ton), while the average price for exports to North Macedonia ($3,242 per ton) and Croatia ($3,254 per ton) were amongst the lowest.

From 2012 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Montenegro (+3.1%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.

Imports of Candy, Sweets, and Nonchocolate Confectionery in Serbia

After three years of growth, supplies from abroad of candies, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery decreased by -11.7% to 10K tons in 2022. In general, total imports indicated strong growth from 2019 to 2022: its volume increased at an average annual rate of +13.1% over the last three-year period. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +44.7% against 2019 indices. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2021 when imports increased by 28% against the previous year. As a result, imports reached the peak of 12K tons, and then reduced in the following year.

In value terms, candy, sweets, and nonchocolate confectionery imports contracted modestly to $37M in 2022. Over the period under review, total imports indicated significant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +20.7% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +76.0% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when imports increased by 53%.
