Papaya Price in Russia (CIF) - 2022
The average papaya import price stood at $4,591 per ton in January 2022, rising by 2.6% against the previous month. Overall, the import price, however, showed a slight contraction. The growth pace was the most rapid in February 2021 when the average import price increased by 14% m-o-m. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $6,352 per ton in March 2021; however, from April 2021 to January 2022, import prices stood at a somewhat lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Thailand ($6,878 per ton), while the price for the Dominican Republic ($2,910 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From January 2021 to January 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Brazil (+0.6%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Papaya Price in Russia (FOB) - 2022
In 2022, the average papaya export price amounted to $8,531 per ton, increasing by 20% against the previous year. In general, the export price continues to indicate a significant expansion. The pace of growth was the most pronounced in 2018 an increase of 88% against the previous year. Over the period under review, the average export prices attained the peak figure at $8,783 per ton in 2020; however, from 2021 to 2022, the export prices remained at a lower figure.
Average prices varied noticeably for the major overseas markets. In 2022, amid the top suppliers, the country with the highest price was Belarus ($8,587 per ton), while the average price for exports to Kazakhstan amounted to $8,511 per ton.
From 2013 to 2022, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Armenia (+27.5%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Papaya Imports in Russia
In 2022, the amount of papayas imported into Russia amounted to 614 tons, with an increase of 10% against the previous year. The total import volume increased at an average annual rate of +1.6% from 2019 to 2022; however, the trend pattern indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded in certain years. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 24%. Imports peaked in 2022 and are likely to see steady growth in the immediate term.
In value terms, papaya imports fell to $2.8M in 2022. Overall, total imports indicated buoyant growth from 2019 to 2022: its value increased at an average annual rate of +13.9% over the last three years. The trend pattern, however, indicated some noticeable fluctuations being recorded throughout the analyzed period. Based on 2022 figures, imports increased by +47.8% against 2019 indices. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2021 with an increase of 41%. As a result, imports attained the peak of $3M, and then declined in the following year.
