Palm Kernel Oil Price in the Netherlands (CIF) - 2023
In August 2023, the average palm kernel oil import price amounted to $1,314 per ton, almost unchanged from the previous month. Overall, the import price saw a noticeable shrinkage. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in May 2023 when the average import price increased by 7.8% against the previous month. Over the period under review, average import prices hit record highs at $1,897 per ton in August 2022; however, from September 2022 to August 2023, import prices remained at a lower figure.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of origin: the country with the highest price was Belgium ($2,634 per ton), while the price for Honduras ($1,024 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was attained by Belgium (+0.2%), while the prices for the other major suppliers experienced a decline.
Palm Kernel Oil Price in the Netherlands (FOB) - 2023
The average palm kernel oil export price stood at $2,029 per ton in August 2023, declining by -14.1% against the previous month. Overall, the export price recorded a relatively flat trend pattern. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in March 2023 when the average export price increased by 24% against the previous month. Over the period under review, the average export prices hit record highs at $2,362 per ton in July 2023, and then shrank in the following month.
Prices varied noticeably by the country of destination: the country with the highest price was Italy ($3,502 per ton), while the average price for exports to Russia ($1,200 per ton) was amongst the lowest.
From August 2022 to August 2023, the most notable rate of growth in terms of prices was recorded for supplies to Russia (+7.4%), while the prices for the other major destinations experienced more modest paces of growth.
Palm Kernel Oil Imports in the Netherlands
For the third consecutive year, the Netherlands recorded decline in supplies from abroad of palm kernel and babassu oil, which decreased by -15.1% to 192K tons in 2022. In general, imports showed a deep contraction. The smallest decline of -0.2% was in 2020.
In value terms, palm kernel oil imports soared to $374M in 2022. Over the period under review, imports, however, saw significant growth. The pace of growth appeared the most rapid in 2021 with an increase of 59%. Over the period under review, imports hit record highs in 2022 and are expected to retain growth in the near future.

Palm Kernel Oil Exports in the Netherlands
In 2022, overseas shipments of palm kernel and babassu oil decreased by -50.8% to 27K tons, falling for the second year in a row after two years of growth. In general, exports continue to indicate a drastic downturn. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 when exports increased by 90% against the previous year. As a result, the exports attained the peak of 72K tons. From 2021 to 2022, the growth of the exports remained at a somewhat lower figure.
In value terms, palm kernel oil exports declined remarkably to $57M in 2022. Over the period under review, exports, however, continue to indicate a prominent increase. The most prominent rate of growth was recorded in 2020 with an increase of 104% against the previous year.
